      Nissan showcasing future of driverless vehicles with Microsoft and Bose

       Nissan chairman of the board and chief executive officer Carlos Ghosn declared in CES 2017 keynonte "At Nissan, from the beginning, we work to bring the right technologies for the full spectrum of our vehicles and the most amount of people," said Ghosn in his keynote. "This takes more than innovation. It takes ingenuity. And it's exactly what we deliver through Nissan Intelligent Mobility."

      Let’s see what big announcements were made by Nissan in CES-  


      SAM- Seamless Autonomous Mobility developed from NASA. This technology will help to control uncertain things with help of human support, when autonomous vehicle will not be able to understand what to do in odd and unpredictable conditions,by collecting sensors and images data of vehicle. It will also allow vehicle to change lane or way if any accident or hindrance takes place on road.

      New Nissan Leaf – launched in 2010, Nissan Leaf is the most selling EVs in the world. Nissan has sold approximately 250000 Leaf cars in the world. Now Nissan will be launching new model of Nissan Leaf supported by company’s ProPilot technology. This technology is being used by company’s minivan in Japan. This technology permits driver to drive autonomous car hand-free on single way traffic road.

      Microsoft – we all know partnership of Nissan and Microsoft, this partnership will be working in future to make driverless cars more safe and efficient. Microsoft’s Cortana will let car to understand willingness or choice of different passengers and drivers in shared vehicles. It will also provide more information like advanced voice recognition, maintenance alert, remote monitoring of car, advanced vehicle navigation system and over the air updates.

      DeNA – it is an internet company of Japan, with the help of DeNA Nissan will be working on driverless commercial vehicles. They will start working on it in this in some designated areas of Japan. They expect testing of it in metropolitan area of Tokyo in 2020 for commercial usage of autonomous commercial vehicles.

      Bose – Bose will be providing best technology to Nissan by allowing driver to listen sounds and noises of car more clearly than conventional cars. Bose’s system will provide safety alerts, car’s signals, phone calls etc better than any company. Every passenger will be able to enjoy his favorite music without disturbing anyone.

      Faraday Future 91- rival of Tesla



      Forget last year where Faraday company disappointed all auto fans, whether by not launching their CES 2016’s car or stopping work at their Nevada plant worth $ 1 billion in November. Now Faraday is back like fighter with their new Faraday Future 91 electric car, which they will be launching in early 2018.

      Let’s talk about Faraday Future 91’s specifications-

      Battery – As we all know, battery plays most important part in any electric car. FF 91 has 130kwh battery which can cover approximately 378 miles. Charging speed of FF 91 is also great and fastest in industry, nearly 500 miles in one hour. The home charger, included with the vehicle, achieves 50 percent to full charge in under 4.5 hours at 240V.  Car can go 775 kms on one charge if speed doesn’t cross 55mph.

      Power- FF91 will be the fastest car on road after its launching. FF91 delivers 1050 horsepower and it can go from 0 to 100kmph in only 2.39 seconds which is faster than Tesla.

      Chassischassis is one of the most important part of FF91. Faraday Future’s Variable Platform Architecture is a flexible monocoque vehicle structure which allows better configuration of battery, wheelbase and multiple motors. Future models of Faraday also will be based on this modular chassis.

      Autonomous driving- FF91 will have best technology for autonomous driving in industry. By having Lidar technology, 13 long and short range radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors and 10 HD cameras will work in FF91 to make self-driving more safe and accurate.

      Mirror-less - There will not any side or rear mirror like we see in our cars. By collecting information from HD cameras surrounding car, car’s high definition display will show every detail wider and better than conventional cars.
      Self-parking- ff91 will be self-parking itself, by taking command from owner of car by phone app, ff91 will be self-parking and leaving parking spot too.

      No door handlebars and keys- sensors will make it possible to open and close doors without any human interference. Doors will be automatically opened and closed by gathering data from sensors to make drive safe and fast.  Ff91 will be the first keyless car as it will work on facial recognition technology, which will allow driver or passenger to enter in car without any key. Cameras in the car will be handling this function. This technology will also be providing entertainment to passengers by playing music or videos according to their mood.

      Big loss to Apple



      India is not in mood of offering Apple concessions to start manufacturing iphones in India (as Apple was hoping) , one government official told media.

      Apple CEO Tim cook has also said that he would like to grow business more in India as Apple watched good growth in sale of iphones last year. As well as, he is aware about India’s population and world’s fastest growing country’s trend of buying new phones. That’s why Apple wants to increase its market share, which is only 2 % right now whereas its rival giant Samsung has more than 20% market share in India.

      India eased rules last year that needed technology product companies to source 30% of their components locally so that they can set up single-brand retail stores. There are many mobile companies which are making their phones in India under “Make In India”  step, so government is not in mood of changing rules for only one company.

      Last year Apple’s request to sell refurbished iphones got denied by Indian government , which was also big thumbs-down for apple .


      Water Injection Technology of Bosch in BMW

      Though water injection technology is not new and it has been used in air planes and race cars in past. But BMW and Bosch is thinking to make this technology “mainstream” by using it in more new cars. BMW M4 cars equipped by this technology were seen as safety cars for Moto GP racing.

      So we will be watching in this post how this technology will bring changes in CO2 emissions, power and fuel efficiency..


      BMW and Bosch's water injection technology

      Power- BMW M4 GTS produces 75 horsepower more than base M4, approximately 5%. In formal engines, extra fuel is used to support cooling system where extra fuel evaporates to keep parts of engine “cool” That’s how it will improve engine’s efficiency by removing engine’s heating and knocking. Combustion temperature will be reduced by approximately 25%.

      Fuel Efficiency – This technology can reduce fuel consumption from 8 to 13 % (depends on speed of car, more speed means more effective this technology is).  But like Fabiana Piazza (global products manager of Bosch) informed Autocar that these advantages are only seen in forced induction engines which have high specific output at least 107 horsepower per liter, thus this technology will be very beneficial for three, four cylinders engines like hot hatchbacks.

      How does it work – This technology functions by injecting a small fog of water into the intake duct just before ignition of fuel, in this way this technology saves that “extra fuel” which we waste in conventional engines. This system only requires 5 liter water tank which is located under the boot floor of the BMW M4 GTS car. Only 1mm of water is required for 1km, in this case water tank has to be refilled by every 2500-3000 kms.

      Future- Bosch official said “we can say that we expect the system to make mass production from 2019”. They also see other car manufacturers using their technology in their own cars.

      So hope for best to save our environment and fuel.
